Just in time for holiday travel, Interstate 15 will start feeling more like a freeway on Monday in northern Utah between Farr West and Brigham City.

All lanes will be opened to traffic then — including the addition of new northbound and southbound lanes.

The section will also have wider shoulders, a center median barrier and improvements to the port of entry at Perry.

Since spring, construction has sometimes limited lanes there — including at times restricting traffic to a single lane in each direction, although two lanes were usually open.

The Utah Department of Transportation says that although all lanes are expected to be open on Monday, additional striping and pavement sealing is scheduled to take place next spring.

The "I-15 Lane Gain Project" began last spring. The 13-mile project cost $68 million.
